Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Our next Career Workshop to be held at the Washington DC Employment Center (Bishops Storehouse) will take Place on April 10th and 11th of next week. It will be from 9 AM - 3PM both days and registration is required. We do realize we have another employment center in our Annandale, VA. stake center which also offers the Career Workshop, however, our and theirs, seems to be alternating in 2 week intervals. And that's a good thing having one every two weeks.
We still have 7-8 slots to fill so please notify those who might be interested.
The goal of The Career Workshop course is to help people help themselves become self-reliant. The Career Workshop is taught in a four module format over the course of two days. The four segments for The Career Workshop are:
My Goals: This segment develops a plan to improve self-reliance. An individual's plan could include employment, education, self-employment, or self-improvement.
My Resources: This segment teaches how to identify and develop resources needed to reach employment goals. It includes how to find job leads, educational and self-employment funding, and other community services.
My Interaction with Resources: This segment teaches how to communicate with the resources identified. It includes how to interview, how to ask for job leads and educational opportunities, and how to access community funding.
My Success: This segment teaches how to follow up on the resources to maximize success. It includes how to negotiate, grow on the job, and advance in the career.
