Dear Ward Members,
In addition to the Day to Serve, ward members are invited to
participate in a special fast on Sunday, September 16th and donate the
value of the meals missed, and more where possible, to community
organizations that help the needy. The special fast is this Sunday.
Unlike a normal fast offering, donation checks should be written out
to the charitable organization rather than to the ward. The
organization that we are supporting is NESAP (North East Social Action
Program). Their web site is http://www.nesapinc.org/
Please bring your donation check on Sunday, write the check to NESAP,
put it in a tithing envelope, write NESAP on the outside of the
envelope, and give it to a member of the bishopric. We will bundle
the checks and deliver them to Lynn Sheavly, executive director of
NESAP.
King Benjamin taught “that when ye are in the service of your fellow
beings ye are only in the service of your God.” The special fast and
Day to Serve are great opportunities for us to work with the community
to help feed the hungry and demonstrate our love and desire to serve
Jesus Christ.
